Huichaira Vineyard:
A Vineyard Surrounded by Mountains
We’re located in the stunning Quebrada de Humahuaca, 2,700 meters above sea level and just 5 km from Tilcara. The view? Absolutely breathtaking. Our vineyard stretches over 4 sloped hectares, with all kinds of soil—some from the Huichaira River and others made up of stones and clay carried down from nearby hills. That mix gives us rocky soils up top, silty-clay in the middle, and sandy soils down below—perfect for growing vines with personality.
This is a family project fueled by love and led by the Nieva family, in partnership with the Mil Suelos team. Wine production is headed by the talented Alejandro “Colo” Sejanovich, with backup from Diana “Tana” Bellincioni. Our vineyard work is guided by agronomists Juan Prates and Nicolás Buitrago, and run on the ground by our amazing forewoman Lucia Diaz. We take full advantage of the area’s unique climate: lots of sunshine during the day, cool nights, and wide temperature swings that let the grapes ripen slowly and develop lots of flavor. Harvest goes from mid-March to mid-April.

Designed by architect Sergio Nieva, our winery blends beautifully with the surroundings. Using local materials and keeping wine production needs in mind, it’s all about honoring the spirit of the Quebrada. Every detail reflects the landscape and its connection to the land.

WINES
Cielo Arriba: The Taste of Altitude
Since 2018, Cielo Arriba has been bringing the essence of Huichaira Vineyard to life. It’s a unique blend of 80% Malbec, 13% Syrah, and 7% Cabernet Franc, aged for 12 months in used French oak barrels and another year in the bottle. The name celebrates the region’s sunny skies.
Coming soon: new wines from our Pinot Noir and Sémillon vines that are thriving in this rugged terrain.

Take a stroll through the vineyard and up the trails around our historic house. Led by sommelier Luz Morcillo, you’ll sip Cielo Arriba in the very spot it was born—surrounded by colorful mountains, towering cacti, and total peace and quiet.
Experience 2
Gourmet Lunch in the Quebrada
(best for groups of 4+)
Sit down to a delicious three-course lunch cooked by local chef Laura Vilte. The experience, paired with Cielo Arriba and guided by Luz, is all about great food, great wine, and good company.
